Feeling safe again can happen gradually, and on your terms.
Trauma-informed support for intrusive memories, feeling on guard, numbness and the lasting effects of difficult experiences.
After something frightening or overwhelming, the danger can feel as though it has not quite passed. Memories intrude, your body stays on guard, sleep becomes difficult, or certain places and conversations suddenly feel unsafe. Some people feel numb or disconnected instead. There is no single way trauma shows up.
You may also be carrying the effects of experiences that happened over a long time, including changes in trust, self-worth and relationships.
Therapy at your pace
We begin by understanding what you have been experiencing and what would help you feel more steady in everyday life. You have a say in what we focus on and when. You will not be asked to recount everything in the first appointment.
Depending on your needs and readiness, therapy may include:
- Ways to manage distress
- Understanding triggers
- Working with beliefs shaped by what happened
Luke draws on trauma-informed care, EMDR and Schema Therapy, alongside other evidence-based approaches where appropriate. We can discuss the options together, including what each involves, before deciding on a direction.
A place to begin
You do not need a PTSD diagnosis to ask for support. If an experience continues to affect your life, relationships or sense of safety, we can talk about it.
